Pacto Medical

Green Pro Bono matched Pacto Medical with three legal teams to make pre-filled syringes that would be more affordable, sustainable and accessible for those living at the end of long supply chains.

Attorney Matches

To address their initial IP concerns, Pacto Medical was matched with a pro bono intellectual property attorney at Duane Morris to help them pursue a patent and explore different trademark and copyright options for their proprietary product.

As they decided how to formally incorporate, Pacto Medical took part in Green Pro Bono's Office Hours program, where they were assisted by a group of attorneys from Dechert to discuss appropriate corporate form.

To help Pacto Medical prepare for their initial investment round, Green Pro Bono matched them with Fox Rothschild to draft a SAFE Agreement.

Environmental Purpose and Activities

Pacto Medical has developed a compact pre-filled syringe that reduces shipping, storage, and sterilization costs while lowering the environmental impact of single-use syringes—enhancing access to medical care in low-resource and rural areas worldwide.

In medical logistics, space is at a premium. Pacto Medical's design minimizes plastic and cardboard packaging, cutting shipping and storage costs while reducing sterilization expenses.

With a smaller packaging footprint, Pacto Medical's solution is expected to reduce the carbon footprint of shipping and storing pre-filled syringes by 40%. By streamlining costs and logistics, it makes pre-filled syringes more affordable and accessible in remote regions.

Standard pre-filled syringes have an extended plunger to accommodate the medication dose. Pacto Medical’s design stores the plunger on the side during transit. To use, clinicians detach the plunger, insert it into the syringe body, and secure it with a patent-pending locking mechanism.
